With Metro Detroit facing a chronic nurse shortage, hospitals across the region are looking as far as the Middle East and the Philippines to find nurses to bulk up short-staffed maternity wards, emergency rooms and intensive care units. This solution is perceived as a “Band-Aid on a deep wound.”
